Marissa Staddon Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to capable young women entering Grade 10 at STS who best represent and reflect the many fine qualities of Marissa Staddon including: excellence in academics, and a generosity of spirit as indicated by their participation in service and co-curricular activities.

About Marissa Staddon

Marissa Staddon was committed to giving of herself and to excellence in all of her endeavours - academic, athletic, and co-curricular. She displayed a generosity of spirit that exemplified thoughtfulness, kindness, camaraderie, and strength of character. It was these qualities, combined with her friendly nature and warm sense of humour, which made her a valuable member of the school community.

“Being a Forever Woods Scholar means taking the opportunity to graciously honour the amazing people that were so tragically lost in 2003 in any way I am capable, keeping their incredible legacies alive. I always try to embody Marissa Staddon’s beautiful characteristics in all ways that I am able, in hopes that I can keep her story and legacy alive for years to come.”

Co-curricular and community involvement: volunteering at a veterinary clinic, peer tutoring, helping elementary students with reading, Diversity Week committee, volleyball coaching, and assisted to organize 2016 WCIS tournament at STS

“It is an honour to be a recipient of the Marissa Staddon Forever Woods Scholarship and I will always endeavour to demonstrate Marissa’s attributes of fortitude, leadership, generosity, acceptance, and balance in all aspects of my life.  I am inspired to bring a warm smile, kind demeanour and willingness to my surroundings in hopes of creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere for others. Whether on the court, in the classroom, band dome or performing community service, Marissa’s legacy and STS reminds me to strive to be a strong leader and apply the school motto of “Nil Nisi Optimum”, nothing if not my best.”
