Testimonials and Stories

“Receiving the Class Bursary is a privilege and a great honour. Without your incredibly generous support I understand that I would not have been able to attend such a prestigious school as Strathcona-Tweedsmuir. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to join this outstanding program that offers a recognized world class education and emphasizes the importance of a well-rounded student. I was thrilled and proud to have been accepted by a school with the motto "Nil Nisi Optimum" as I have always sought to do my best academically, athletically and socially.

Since attending STS, I have had the opportunity of a lifetime. I am already taking full advantage of the multiple options that this excellent school provides including OE 15 and Varsity Basketball. Moreover, I am working hard academically to ensure high grades in all subject areas as well as demonstrating enthusiastic participation in extracurricular activities. I appreciate my dedicated teachers, small class size and challenging work.

As well as positive interactions with my supportive teachers, I believe I have already made lifelong friendships with some of my peers. All this is due to your additional financial support that allowed me to attend such a first class school.

As a Class Bursary student, I will do my upmost to ensure that I embody the mission of the school: scholarship, leadership and character. I will strive to ensure success in all these areas with a focus on excellence.

With heartfelt and sincere appreciation.”

"Attending STS has benefitted me greatly.  STS provides so much support to its students through its teachers and staff and all the time they put in that goes to our success as students.  Additionally, STS is preparing me for university life by teaching me invaluable time-management and leadership skills, as well as diligence and teamwork, which I will use at any of the four universities I was accepted into:  Queens, McMaster, Western, and Carleton.  This scholarship has helped my entrance into these prestigious universities by allowing me to continue my education at STS."

"I am extremely grateful to have been provided the opportunity to continue my education at Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School.  The ability to attend STS is a valuable and enjoyable experience as it not only creates a safe and nurturing learning environment that allows students to develop in all areas, but also to live a life of balance through participating in fine arts and athletics alongside their academic achievements.  I myself have participated in the majority of experiences STS has to offer, such as enjoying the Outdoor Education outings, playing on the volleyball and field hockey teams, and participating in the middle school play.  This year I volunteered as an elementary reading buddy.  Aside from creating excitement and joy on a daily basis, this activity allowed me to develop stronger relationships within the school community and communicate with peers of all ages; furthermore, I strive to make them feel as welcome and accepted in the community as I feel."

"STS is an amazing community that has given me skills, memories, and friendships that will last a lifetime and there are no words to express how much this means to me.  STS has prepared me for my post-secondary education, but also given me life lessons and experiences that can't be matched anywhere else and I am so thankful to have been a part of such a caring community that continues to inspire and encourage students to strive for their best.  As I leave the STS community, please know that your donations have been a gift not just of education, but one of friendship, experience, and community.  I can't possibly thank you enough.  Thank you for all that you've done, and all that you've given me.  Dreams and goals have been achieved because of your actions."
