Alumni Award Celebration - May 6, 2021

Our STS Alumni Association hosted a virtual evening of celebration on May 6, 2021. Our alumni community came together to honour 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, Mr. Paul Storwick ’78, and welcome retiring faculty and staff to the Alumni Association:  Mrs. Nola Adam (35 years), Mr. David Milne-Ives (25 years), Mr. Larry Clark (20 years), Mrs. Elaine Chotowetz (17 years) and Mr. Jim Yurchevich (10 years).  Aimee-Jo Benoit ’97, Vice-President of the Alumni Association and emcee for the evening, did a superb job engaging the audience and keeping the event on time.  Heart-warming speeches were given by Jason Fong ’03, President, Alumni Association, Carol Grant-Watt, Head of School, and Paul Storwick ’78, our Distinguished Alumnus.  

Highlights of the celebration included the video tributes to Paul and retiring faculty, and musical tribute by pianist and STS student, Alix Tucker, Class of 2021. Calgary and area participants enjoyed a complimentary celebration box and bottle of wine from event sponsors:  Great Events Catering and The MacIntyre Family and Lake Okanagan Breeze. This was a no-charge event, but we asked attendees to consider donating in support of STS’ Emergency FA Relief Fund resulting in us raising $2,600 in donations. One hundred and twenty-eight unique viewers logged on for this event, which would indicate that there were well over 200 of our community members in attendance virtually.
