Join us for an interactive and fun COFFEE TASTING AND BREWING WORKSHOP with Monogram Coffee Co-Founder and STS Alumnus, Jeremy Ho ’05.

Date:  January 30, 2019
Time:  6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Location: Monogram Coffee Fifth Avenue Place, 420 2 St SW, Calgary

Explore the wonderful world of coffee.

TASTING 
To start, participants will learn the process of “cupping”, a unique industry standard way of evaluating coffee. Jeremy will lead you through a guided tasting by comparing two very different coffees side by side and discussing the differences in acidity, sweetness, aroma, body and flavour. Discover the reasons why each coffee tastes the way it does by learning about the variables that influence taste, from the terroir, agriculture, processing, shipping, roasting and brewing.  

BREWING
After the tasting session, Jeremy will guide you through a step-by-step process on manually brewing exceptional coffee. Get hands on and explore the science behind extracting coffee, and learn how to control and tweak all the variables associated with brewing to optimize the coffee to your personal tastes. Experiment with new brew methods and learn how to re-vitalize old favourites.

6:40 p.m. – Tasting session begins  
7:30 p.m. – Manual brew methods session begins  
8:15 p.m. – Q&A  
8:30 p.m. - Workshop ends 

Price: $60 (GST not included) Price includes a 12 oz. bag of freshly roasted whole bean coffee.
