STS Celebrates its 11th Annual Calgary Alumni Dinner
On Thursday, May 10, 2018 we held our 11th Annual Alumni Dinner at Gasoline Alley in Heritage Park. Over 230 members of the STS community came together to honour our 2018 Distinguished Alumna, Ms. Pam Heard ’73, retiring Head of School, Dr. William Jones, 2017 Nil Nisi Optimum Notable Alumni - Ms. Mercedes Stephenson ’99 and Mr. Micah Libin ’91, and retiring employees, Mrs. Dinnie Baker, Mrs. Sharon Gibson, Mr. Dan Hall, Mr. Rob Lederer, Mr. Art Thomson, and Mr. Brian Uzick.
During this fabulous evening of friendship and fellowship, guests were greeted by the 2019 Prefects who assisted with registration and seating. Entertainment by the talented STS Jazz Combo provided the perfect backdrop as guests enjoyed cocktails and mingling. Mrs. Dana Lougheed ’90 did a superb job as Master of Ceremonies and her humour and familiarity with the audience kept everyone engaged. Mrs. Frances (Stuart) MacLean ’70, delivered the invocation and guests were then treated to a fabulous dinner.
Heart-warming speeches were given by our 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, Ms. Pam Heard ’73 and retiring Head of School, Dr. William Jones. Highlights of the dinner included video tributes to Pam and Bill, a walk down the red carpet for pictures and interviews, the wine/spirit pull which raised $2500.00, and the 50/50 draw which raised $1570.00. All monies raised at this event will go towards the STS Family Bursary Fund.

A special thank you goes out to our generous event supports who donated wine and spirits for our draw, Peter Stewart ’90 and the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation for donating the ‘game package’ for the early bird prize draw, Alisha Whitehead ’10 for helping to sell 50/50 tickets throughout the evening, our videographer Justine Stevens ’10, and our print sponsor Oil City Press.
