Brittany Girling '09 - Head of the Young Alumni Committee
Corporate Planning Analyst at Seven Generations Energy
Brittany attended Western University/Ivey Business School, earning a dual degree in civil engineering and business. After graduation she spent a few years working as an engineer in the Investment Banking group at Scotiabank looking at acquisitions and divestitures. Brittany is a member of the Women in Capital markets in Calgary and plays on a women’s soccer team. While at Western she was a member of Engineers Without Borders and Women in Engineering, editor and author for Ivey Business Review, co-founder and co-president of the Ivey Energy and Resource Club and participated in a micro-finance service work trip with Global Brigades in Honduras.
Brittany attended STS for Grades 7 to 12 and during her time at the school she was a Prefect, played varsity basketball, field hockey, track and field and cross country and was a member of Round Square (participate in the conference in India in 2008)
Rebecca Clark '16
Client Experience Lead at Vesta Wealth Partners Ltd.
Rebecca graduated from Queen’s University Class of 2020 with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Environmental Science and Certificate of Business. While at Queen’s she enjoyed being part of the executive team on Queen’s Commerce Leadership Summit, as well as being involved in several environmental initiatives on campus and teaching Science to elementary school students. Currently, Rebecca is working at Vesta Wealth Partners Ltd., where she manages high net worth family clients and helps to individually craft wealth management portfolios that contribute to family success and governance.
Rebecca attended STS from Grade 7 to 12, graduating as a Prefect. During her time at STS, Rebecca performed in Grease, Shrek, The Drowsy Chaperone and Big Fish Musicals. She was also involved in Cross Country, Basketball, Track and Field, and Field Hockey. She enjoys staying active outdoors, travelling and painting in her spare time.
Victoria Clark '13
Evaluation Engineer (EIT) at McDaniel & Associates Consultants
Victoria is working towards her P.Eng at McDaniels in Calgary. In her role, she evaluates oil and gas reserves and resources and prepares economic evaluations for purposes of annual reporting, reserves certifications, reserves audits, debt financing, due diligence reviews, and acquisition and divestitures. Outside of the office, she volunteers with the Young Professionals in Energy Calgary Chapter and likes to hike, bike, ski, and travel.
Victoria graduated with a First Class Honours Chemical Engineering degree from Queen’s University in 2017. While at university she enjoyed being a frosh leader (FREC), training with the triathlon team, and coordinating speakers and sponsorship for the Queen’s Oil & Gas Speaker Series.
Having grown up in Brunei, Syria, New Orleans, and Oman, Victoria attended STS for Grades 9 to 12 upon moving to Calgary. She completed the full International Baccalaureate diploma and competed provincially in Cross-Country and Track & Field.
Virginia Cooke '12
Investments at Backman Enterprises
Virginia attended Western University and studied Finance & Economics. While at Western she was President of the Model UN club. She finished university on exchange at the University of Hong Kong.
Upon graduation, Virginia joined PwC's Management Consulting practice. She worked at PwC for four years specializing in operations and business transformation. Currently, Virginia is working at a private investment company focusing on US equities and all things automotive.
Having attended Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School from Grades 1-12, Virginia played on the golf team, participated in Model UN and was a horseback rider throughout. Virginia now lives in Vancouver where she enjoys golfing, hiking and the outdoors.
David Edwards '09
Private Equity at Brookfield Asset Management in London, U.K.
David attended Western University and the Ivey School of Business, earning a dual degree in chemical engineering and business. After graduation, he spent three years working in Investment Banking at Barclays in Calgary, before joining Brookfield in Toronto. He relocated to London with Brookfield in the fall of 2019.
David attended STS for Grades 7 to 12. He played on the varsity basketball, badminton, and track & field teams and completed the IB Diploma Program.
Geoff Evamy-Hill '10
Master of Design in Strategic Foresight and Innovation Student, OCAD University, Toronto
Geoff attended the University of Waterloo and graduated with a Bachelors of Knowledge Integration (Honours) with minors in Cognitive Science and Philosophy in 2015. Geoff has since been involved in fundraising, higher education innovation, and economic development innovation roles and initiatives since graduation. He is currently studying Strategic Foresight and Innovation at OCADu - a systematic transdiscipline to help companies, governments and non-profits prepare for the future.
Geoff was valedictorian of the 2010 STS graduating class. In 2012 he spearheaded Spur, an STS alumni pecha kucha event showcasing the diverse ideas and innovations in our community. He served on the Alumni Executive between 2012 and 2015. Before and after that time, he worked to create strategies for STS for Social Media and for the Alumni Fundraising Campaign.

Evan Ferguson '10
Founder of Encore Auto Finance
Evan attended STS from Grades 7 to 12. Following graduation, he attended Western University in Ontario where he completed a dual degree in Chemical Engineering and Business (Ivey School of Business). Upon graduating university in the spring of 2015, Evan founded Encore Auto Finance - a company that utilizes analytics and machine learning to help approve loans. Since inception, Encore has grown to employ software engineers, data scientists as well as finance and marketing majors.
In his spare time, Evan enjoys squash, skiing, and mountain biking - staying active has always been a priority. Feel free to reach out with any university or career-related questions!
Emma Fu '11
Anesthesiology Resident at Case Western University, Cleveland, OH
Emma is completing her training to become an anesthesiologist in Cleveland, OH. She earned her BSc in Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology with a minor in psychology from the University of Calgary. Emma received her MD at St. George's University School of Medicine after completing her schooling and clinical rotations in England, Grenada, and Chicago.
In regards to volunteering in the community, Emma was VP Events and later President of Light up The World University of Calgary, and a volunteer researcher for iGEM Calgary, where she worked to develop a biological device to diagnose multiple infectious diseases simultaneously. She volunteered at the Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured for 9 years, and has also previously volunteered at the emergency room at South Health Campus and Renfrew School. Throughout medical school, Emma continued to volunteer with Best Buddies and in the community providing healthcare screening for underserved communities.
Emma attended STS for Grades 1 to 12, where she participated in Round Square going on an exchange to Australia in Grade 10, speech club from Grade 9 onwards, took part in the band program from Grade 7 to 12, and the pit band for musicals in Senior School. She also took part in the full IB programme and earned the Premier’s Citizenship Award in 2011.
Tom Hansen '08
Consultant at the Boston Consulting Group (Calgary office)
Tom attended Western University/Ivey School of Business and earned a dual engineering and business degree. Upon graduation, Tom worked for 4 years at Imperial managing remediation and reclamation projects. After getting his P. Eng., Tom went back to Ivey to complete his MBA and is now working as a management consultant in Calgary.
Having attended STS for Grades 5 to 12, Tom played basketball, rugby and was on the track and field team. He was also a Prefect and participated in the theatre (Anne of Green Gables, Our Town).
Will Kennedy '11
Medical student at the University of Calgary, Class of 2020
Will graduated from Queen’s University where he studied Life Sciences. During his time there he was involved with the varsity lightweight men’s rowing team.
Throughout his undergrad he spent his summers in breast cancer and aging research labs in Vancouver, Calgary and the Netherlands. After undergrad, he worked at the University of British Columbia as Head of the Mass Cytometry (CyTOF) facility.
As a medical student, he is interested in helping students engage and address issues with their education.
During his time at STS for Grades 10 to 12, Will was involved with the Track & Field and Cross-Country Running teams and completed the International Baccalaureate program.

Taylor Kitchen '09
Pursuing an MBA at University of Cambridge
After graduating from STS, Taylor attended Queen’s University where he studied Civil Engineering. Following his graduation from Queen’s, Taylor worked in various petroleum engineering roles over five years spending time at Cenovus Energy and Torxen Energy.
He attended STS from grades 4 to 12 and while at STS, he played varsity basketball and volleyball and was also a Prefect.
Taylor has recently returned to school to pursue his MBA at Cambridge.
Holly Kletke '18
Bachelor’s Degree, Music and Education, University of Lethbridge
Holly Kletke is a second year student pursuing a dual Bachelor’s Degree in Music and Education at the University of Lethbridge. She is the Fine Arts Representative of the University of Lethbridge Students’ Union, a member of the University Senate, a Residence Assistant, and an executive and founding member of 4 clubs on campus. One of the clubs she helped to begin is an alumni advancement club, called PACT. The goal of this club is to connect current students to alumni in various ways. Through her involvement in this club, she has put many hours of work towards the University’s Nourish Campaign, addressing food insecurity on campus. As well, she has had the privilege of travelling to Seattle for a CASE District VIII Conference for advancement professionals.
Holly attended STS from grades 1-12. During her time at the school, she was involved in Speech and Debate, and was one of the Secretary Generals for the Model United Nations club. She started an acapella group, was involved with Open Arms week for mental health, and helped with Diversity week. She was also in Band and Jazz band, completed a voice recital for IB Music, and was involved in four musicals.
Jahan Lakhani '08
After Grade 12, Jahan attended the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland where she completed her medical degree. Throughout her time in Dublin, Jahan volunteered with the Irish Red Cross, organizing various fundraising initiatives and served on a panel to promote multiculturalism in the community. Since University, Jahan has volunteered as a mentor to young women who have immigrated to Canada and has started a cooking blog: https://www.theediblerevolution.com/.
Having attended STS for all 12 years, Jahan participated in musicals, band, peer support and was a Prefect in Grade 12.
Adam Le Dain '11
Associate at Azimuth Capital Management
Adam attended Queen's University, earning a bachelor of commerce degree. While at Queen's Adam helped manage the Commerce Society's business portfolio and co-chaired a national leadership conference. Prior to joining Azimuth, Adam worked as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Energy Group of RBC Capital Markets in Calgary.
Adam is also the founder of a non-profit company focused on effective philanthropic fundraising for local charities and is a CFA Charterholder.
During his time at STS for Grades 10 to 12, Adam was a Prefect and played varsity volleyball, basketball and badminton.
Darby Lush '12
Master of Sustainable Environmental Management Student at the University of Saskatchewan
Darby graduated from the University of Victoria in 2016 with a B.Com degree, double specializing in Service Management and Entrepreneurship. She is currently completing her Masters in Sustainable Environmental Management at U of S. She enjoys her Friday afternoons volunteering with Alberta Health Services in their pet therapy program with her dog!
Darby attended STS from Grades 1-12 along with her two siblings and enjoyed participating in both track and field and cross country.
Beth McFarlane '08
Grade 4 Teacher in the deaf/hard of hearing program at Stanley Jones Elementary in Calgary
Beth attended the University of Calgary where she earned a Bachelor of Education. She also attended the University of Western Ontario and earned a Bachelor of Arts.
Beth attended STS for Grades 1 to 12 and played varsity volleyball and basketball.
After graduation, Beth was assistant coach to the STS varsity women’s volleyball team for two years (2012-2013) and coached volleyball for two years (2012-2013).
Patrick Moumdjian '13
Associate at Manulife Private Wealth
Patrick joined Manulife Private Wealth in December 2018 as an Associate and works with the team’s Private Wealth Consultants and Investment Counsellor to build and develop relationships with advisors and clients.
Prior to joining Manulife Private Wealth, Patrick worked for a leading international Foreign Exchange (FX) brokerage where he helped launch the company’s expansion into Canada. During his time working in Foreign Exchange, Patrick worked closely with businesses to develop financial strategies to manage their FX risk, gaining invaluable experience I. Finance, economics and client relationship management. Patrick is a graduate of Queen’s Smith School of Business and has completed his Canadian Securities Course. He is currently working towards his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 1.
During his time at STS for Grades 10 to 12, Patrick played varsity rugby, participated in Model United Nations and attended a conference in Washington, D.C. He was also involved in Round Square.
Rachel Roskey '09
Attending University of Calgary to pursue Bsc in Chemical Engineering
After graduating from STS, Rachel attended Western University, and earned a HBSc in Biology. While she was at school in Ontario, she played varsity women’s rugby and was elected to be part of the Western Mustang’s Leader’s Circle.
After graduation, she took a year off to work and travel throughout Western Africa and South East Asia and participated in an 8 week Global Health Education Trip in Ghana. Rachel returned to the University of Calgary in the fall of 2014 to pursue a BSc in chemical engineering, and is currently in her last year, with an anticipated graduation date of April 2019.
Rachel attended STS for Grades 4 to 12. During her time at STS, she played varsity basketball, volleyball and track, was a Prefect and participated in the 2008 CAIS leadership conference. She currently acts as one of the 2009 STS class representatives, and has been a volunteer with Special Olympics since 2011; most recently as an assistant coach in the youth swimming program.
Katie Ruddy '07
Senior Manager at KPMG in Calgary
Katie achieved her Chartered Accountant (CA, CPA) designation in January 2014 and has traveled throughout Southeast Asia with other STS alumni post university graduation.
She attended Acadia University and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Major in accounting.
Katie attended STS for Grades 2 to 12. She is a 3rd generation STS alumni, her grandfather was Sandy Heard, the 1st headmaster of STS. Katie also played varsity volleyball and assisted in coaching the Grade 8/9 girls volleyball team in 2006.
Shiv Ruparell '15
Attending Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York
Shiv is currently in his third-year at Vassar College in New York, where he is pursuing a degree in International Relations and Economics with a Minor in French and Francophone Studies. He is currently based in Paris, where he is completing a year-long exchange at both SciencesPo (Institut d’études politiques de Paris) and the Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris III). He spent the last summer interning for a political campaign in Calgary, and the summer before that interning at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C.
Outside of his education and work background, Shiv sits on a number of organizations at Vassar including the Vassar Senate (where he represents the Class of 2019) and the Vassar Hindu Association, of which he is the President. He also plays for the Vassar Men’s Varsity Squash Team and works for the school's Office of Residential Life.
While attending STS Shiv was a Prefect and an active member of the School’s Speech, Debate, and Model UN teams. He spearheaded the School’s annual Diversity Week initiative, participated each year in the fall musical, and was a member of the Cross-Country and Track & Field teams.
Halle Shopperly '16
Area Manager at Amazon
Halle attended Ivey Business School at Western University, where she received the Richard Ivey Excellence Award for outstanding incoming candidate to the Ivey HBA Program, recognizing academic achievement and leadership potential. At Ivey, Halle was actively involved in Ivey’s Women in Management club as both a mentor and representative for her section.
In August 2020, Halle will begin her full-time job at Amazon in Calgary as an Area Manager. She will manage a department and lead a team of up to 200 associates in Amazon’s fulfillment centre.
Halle is a lifer at STS and was Secretary-General for Model UN, captain of the basketball team, and earned her silver Duke of Edinburgh and Global Scholar Certificate. Halle won the Grade 12 impromptu award at Speech Day and the Model UN award at Prizegiving. She actively pursued her passion of aviation to earn her Student Pilot’s License while attending STS.
John Storwick '10
Medical Student at University of Alberta
John attended McMaster University where he earned a Bachelor of Health Science (Honors) degree with a Minor in Music Performance for piano. He is currently in medical school at the University of Alberta, hoping to specialize in Plastic Surgery, Anaesthesiology or Dermatology. While at McMaster University, John was involved in the theatre and arts community through various choirs and musical productions.
During his undergraduate, John spent his summers as an assistant at the Foothills Hospital researching the treatment of intracranial aneurysms with bioengineered stents. As well he has spent time traveling Scandinavia, Russia, and Thailand. Most recently, he spent a month in Thailand doing electives in Plastic Surgery and Anaesthesiology.
John attended STS from Grades 7 to 12. During his time at STS, he performed in the annual fall musicals and took part in the band program from Grades 7 to 12. As well, he was a member of the senior choir and the cross-country team.
Mark Storwick '13
Intern Architect at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP in London, UK
Mark is in his third year of studies at The University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He is participating in the school's five-year professional degree architecture program while also obtaining a minor in real estate development. Outside of his educational background, he spent the past summer acting as an intern designer for Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP at their London office. He will be returning again next summer to SOM, the architecture firm responsible for One World Trade Center and Burj Khalifa, among many other iconic buildings.
While attending STS for Grades 7 to 12, Mark travelled to: England for the Round Square International Conference, Montreal for the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools Student Leadership Conference and Queensland, Australia with the STS exchange program. During his studies, he participated in the annual musicals and held a position as Prefect in his final year.
Mark has continued his passion from travel and leadership at USC by acting as the Chair of Social, Design, and Recruitment of his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi. After obtaining his license and sufficient experience, Mark plans to pursue his passion for both architecture and real estate by establishing a design and development firm in the hospitality industry.
Natalie Sykes '08
Attending Columbia Law School in New York City
Natalie has competed on the Columbia European Law Moot Court team in Prague, Czech Republic and is currently working in International Arbitration in Hong Kong for the summer of 2015. She has been a consultant at Freedom House on both the Freedom of the World and Freedom of the Press reports.
Natalie attended the London School of Economics and earned a Master's in Human Rights. She also attended Georgetown University; School of Foreign Service. She has studied abroad in Paris, France and interned at the Canadian Embassy in Washington.
Having attended STS for Grades 7 to 12, Natalie played junior varsity volleyball, was a Prefect and took part in the Full IB Diploma.
Ashley Vogeli '09
Senior Manager of Strategic Communications at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board in Toronto
Ashley holds a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Calgary, a BA in Politics from Acadia University, and a Certificate in Leadership and Applied Public Affairs from the Laurentian Leadership Centre in Ottawa. During her education, Ashley was involved in student government, completed a Federal government internship, volunteered with Calgary Reads, Calgary Youth Employment Center and the United Way.
Prior to joining CPPIB, Ashley worked at Longview Communications and Public Affairs. Her experience also includes qualitative and quantitative research for Ipsos Reid.
Ashley attended STS for Grades 10 to 12. She played volleyball, ran cross-country and track, was a Prefect and also participated in Model United Nations. Highlights of her time at STS include the Spanish language trip to Spain and participating in the Harvard and Berkeley model UN conferences.
Ashley is a good resource if you have questions about a career in the field of public affairs and communications.
Connor Waterous '10
Associate at Waterous Energy Fund
Connor attended Harvard University and currently volunteers with Catholic Big Brothers and Sisters.
During his time at STS for Grades 4 to 12, Connor was a Prefect, was involved in Model United Nations and Round Square and also played on the golf team throughout.
Katherine Wynne '10
Financial professional working in economic empowerment and gender equality.
Katherine spent the last two years at Morgan Stanley with DC’s #1-ranked team assisting in the management of over $3Billion. Katherine now consults for multilateral organizations including UN Women in NYC and the World Health Organization in Geneva. She is also a Huffington Post Contributor, Mogul Influencer, and White House nominated Global Changemaker.
Katherine graduated magna cum laude in 2014 from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs with a degree in International Economics. Her internships include: the Embassy of Canada, the U.S. House of Representatives, and Refugees International.
Katherine serves on steering committees including: the Young Humanitarians Circle for Refugees International, the Advocacy Committee of the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area, and the UN Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development’s Working Group on Youth & Gender Equality (UN IANYD).
