2025 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient - Mr. Jeffrey Kahane '89
It is our pleasure to announce that Jeffrey (Jeff) Kahane ’89 has been chosen as the recipient of the Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (STS) 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award – the highest honour bestowed by STS upon its alumni.
This award was established in 2003 to recognize eminent alumni who have made an outstanding contribution to our school. Each year, STS showcases a former student who has stimulated new ideas or developments, shown exceptional dedication, creativity, or leadership, and who has truly represented the spirit of STS – Nil nisi optimum.
Jeff exemplifies the qualities of a Distinguished Alumni Award recipient through his outstanding legal career and unwavering commitment to community service. As the founder of Kahane Law Office, he has cultivated a successful and thriving firm, earning the prestigious title of King’s Counsel in 2022. His professional accolades are numerous, including the Alberta Centennial Medal of Honour, the Calgary Choice Award for Small Business, and multiple recognitions as one of the top real estate law firms. A highly sought-after speaker, Jeff shares his expertise with various professional organizations, including Calgary Real Estate Board, Real Estate Council of Alberta, Alberta Real Estate Association, Alberta Mortgage Brokers Association, Calgary Opera Board, the University of Calgary Law School, and the Law Society of Alberta.
Beyond his remarkable professional achievements, Jeff has been a steadfast and dedicated member of the STS community for over 35 years. As an alumnus, donor, past member of the STS Alumni Association, ambassador, and volunteer, he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the school. His contributions span a wide range of activities, including serving as a Speech Day judge, Spartan Talk presenter, panelist, musical patron, and alumni rugby lead. Additionally, he has played a key leadership role as a class representative, philanthropist, and STS Alumni Executive Board member, fostering meaningful connections within the alumni network.
Jeff’s remarkable accomplishments, combined with his deep commitment to his alma mater and the community at large, make him a truly deserving recipient of this prestigious honour. We are proud to recognize Jeff’s immense contributions and celebrate his exceptional impact.
