Inspired by Possibility

The story of STS has always been one of courageous vision and action. For over 100 years beginning with our founding schools, we’ve looked for fresh possibilities for a well-rounded, inspiring education – and made them a reality.

Saying yes to an environment fostered by hospitality

Saying yes to an environment fostered by hospitality

When we think of belonging, we often associate our need to belong with our immediate environments – our peers, teachers and family. At STS, your sense of belonging is not complimentary to your experience, but rather a value that is embedded throughout your time as a student.

The roots that start at STS

After twenty years of teaching in six different schools, I have worked with thousands of students of various ages, in various settings, and have always hoped that I'm making a positive impact in these young peoples' lives. Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (STS) is the first school where I regularly see tangible evidence of this positive impact because it is the first place I've taught where it is the norm for student-teacher relationships to extend beyond the student's Grade 12 year; and where it is the norm for teachers and students to share life experiences.

National Volunteer Week 2019

STS volunteers have always been at the top of the list of resources that we draw upon to make our School a success. The impact of our volunteers is broad and deep as their work supports everything from student learning to governance.

Building a future with innovative minds - computational thinking with a purpose

Technology-integrated learning at Strathcona-Tweedsmuir (STS) focuses on the 5 C's: creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking and computational thinking. The STS curriculum teaches students to be digitally-literate through the introduction of the fifth 'C', computational thinking. STS recognizes that proper technology integration and education is about the design of the learning experiences that not only help students strengthen their digital abilities, but to also help students think critically about what tool best enables their learning in different situations.

Starting at the beginning

Kindergarten is a special place. Not because it is the beginning of one’s school experience but because it is where children have the greatest sense of adventure, gratitude, wonder, and perseverance.

Given the extensive news coverage regarding the college admissions scandal in the United States, many are questioning ethics in the university admission process.
