CAIS Middle School Leadership Camp a Unique Opportunity

CAIS Middle School Leadership Camp a Unique Opportunity

In September, eight Grade 8 students attended a leadership camp hosted by CAIS (Canadian Accredited Independent Schools).  This camp is open to all CAIS schools and offers Middle School students an opportunity to meet and work with students from across Canada. At the end of Grade 7, students are invited to apply for this unique opportunity which is only open to students in Grade 8. This year the camp was hosted by Camp Onondaga in Minden, Ontario. The camp started with keynote speaker, Michael Eisen who is the founder of the Youth Wellness Network. He spoke to the students about the importance of self-care and the importance of “filling” yourself up before you can look after others. If your needs are met, you are better able to give to others. For the rest of the camp, students attended smaller workshops in various activities that could help them as leaders at their own schools. It was an energizing weekend filled with positive energy and great collaboration. A great take away quotation from the weekend was – “Happiness is a way to travel, not a destination.”
