Volunteer Appreciation Week
At STS our volunteers play an active and vital role in not only helping make our School a success but also through fostering the strong sense of community and caring felt at the school.
Many of the volunteer activities at STS are organized through the Parents' Organization of STS (POSTS). "As the mission statement of POSTS says, we are here to provide opportunities for parents and guardians to have an active role in the STS community and school life" said Amy Meyer, POSTS President. "We do this through the promotion and facilitation of volunteer activities, building community spirit, and fundraising initiatives."
With the theme of this year's National Volunteer Week being "Empathy in Action" we are sharing some of the many ways that our volunteers, whose selfless dedication, awareness, caring, and commitment, help foster the incredible feeling of community present at STS. Follow our social media to see some of our many dedicated volunteers featured in our stories throughout the week.
Tweeds and More
Tweeds and More is our on-campus store run entirely by parent volunteers. Tweeds and Mores provides a valuable service to the STS community in helping to ensure required uniform pieces are easily accessible throughout the school year. Parent volunteers are provided with a unique opportunity to interact with other parents, teachers and students in a relaxed environment. 100% of the profits from Tweeds and More are donated back to the school.
Fundraising Committee
The Fundraising Committee works on many events throughout the year in support of various initiatives such as enhancing spaces on the STS campus for students to reflect, play, and learn. Examples include new innovative classroom furniture designed to meet different learning styles and creating wellness-focused spaces outside for students to enjoy while learning, eating lunch, or just taking a needed break.
Lost and Found
The goal of the Lost and Found is to make every effort to return items to their rightful owners and maintain organized storage of unclaimed items to facilitate easy retrieval.
Decorating Committee
Volunteers' creativity bring the school to life throughout the year by creating seasonal displays throughout the school.
New Parent Committee
Every year STS welcomes many new families to the School. Recognizing that this transition can be exciting and challenging, the New Parent Committee strives to make their transition as seamless as possible. New Parent Committee volunteers provide an informative introduction to the School and ensure that new families have all the support they need to settle into the STS community. They also keep new families updated on all of the important events and exciting activities happening throughout the year.
Special Events Committee
The Special Events Committee plan events throughout the year to bring the community together for fun and connection.
At STS volunteers also support in myriad other ways, such as helping in classrooms, the library, choir, assemblies, photography, theatre, Outdoor Education (OE), Speech and Debate, athletics, and many more. Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who go above any beyond, giving their best, so that STS can be its best.
