Our Grade 5 Spartans have developed quite the reputation; a cohort with grit and perseverance! Despite -30 weather landing right on top of our outdoor school, students bundled up and took experiential learning to a whole new level.
Monday, March 8 is International Women’s Day and I want to thank all the strong women who have made a difference in my life.
It was quite an atypical year to say the least! STS worked hard to encourage student engagement and reduce feelings of isolation during several months of RAPID (Remote Alternate Program Instructional Delivery), due to the COVID-19 pandemic. From themed days like crazy hat day and bring-a-stuffed-animal-to-zoom, to our own version of the newscast 'Some Good News', students had opportunities to connect and have a good laugh.

In March 2020, when schools around the world had to close their doors to keep students, staff and their loved ones safe, at STS we made a firm commitment to our families: a promise to not only finish the school year and cover the required outcomes, but to continue to provide enrichment and a strong sense of community while ensuring our students flourished and succeeded.
As a school and a community, we have watched the protests and rallies in the U.S. and around the world as people have mobilized to stand up against anti-Black racism. We want to acknowledge the deep damage to humanity caused by racism, and our sincere belief as educators that every child has the right to be loved, respected, and supported to become the best version of themselves in our school.

The peer tutoring program has definitely been one of my highlights for Grade 10 thus far. It feels amazing to expand my learnings upon the school community, while also helping our fellow peers.

The word Diwali means a row of lights and so Diwali has come to mean a festival of lights. We light up our home inside and outside with small clay lamps called Diyas and candles.
