Best-selling author of Dr. Karyn’s Guide to the Teen Years and TV Personality for Good Morning America and Cityline presented a keynote at Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (STS) teaching parents and educators how to achieve balance with children during an age of overindulgence.

sts speaker series Dr. Karyn’s presentation focused on raising healthy kids and teens in an age of overindulgence. Many young people live in a ‘buy now, pay later’ culture which is impacting their decision making, priorities, spending, self-discipline, and overall emotional and physical health.

In this keynote, parents and educators learned:

  • a comprehensive understanding of ‘over-indulgence’ and how it’s different from ‘spoiling’
  • common obstacles preventing families from achieving balance in their life
  • three practical strategies for raising healthy kids and teens with balanced decision-making skills
