Elementary School Principal
Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (STS) invites applications from visionary leaders for the position of Elementary School Principal effective August 15, 2018, following the retirement of the long-serving incumbent.
STS is a premier co-educational day school for high-achieving students. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, STS offers all three IB Programmes from Kindergarten through Grade 12. STS recently opened a state-of-the-art elementary wing on its 225-acre campus nestled in the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains just outside of the City of Calgary. This innovative facility is designed to support differentiated student learning in inspiring, and highly functional spaces. STS combines the rich traditions from its 113 years of history with innovative, research-based instructional practices in developing well-balanced students for a life of purpose by inspiring excellence in scholarship, leadership and character. In addition to the global perspective offered by the IB Primary Years Programme, the School offers an extensive co-curricular program in a technology-rich environment. Students take advantage of the amazing natural setting including a small lake, forest, and extensive trail system to complement their academic learning.
Reporting to the Assistant Head of School, and working closely with the Middle and Senior School Principals, the Elementary Faculty and other school leaders, the Elementary School Principal is an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team.
The successful candidate will be an experienced leader with a proven record of outstanding achievement in teaching, administration, community relations and team building. Experience with teaching and leadership in in the IB Primary Years Programme, familiarity with the IB philosophy, and a Master’s degree would be assets.
