Elementary School Division Music Specialist

0.6 FTE to 1.0 FTE (based on applicants)

Continuing (after one-year successful probationary period) 

Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (STS) is seeking a qualified Kindergarten to Grade 2 Music Specialist teacher for the Kindergarten to Grade 2 music classes, the primary choir and Kindergarten art.  This is a 0.6 FTE continuing position with the possibility of 1.0 FTE depending on the applicants’ other teaching abilities.  The successful candidate must hold (or be eligible to obtain) an Alberta Teaching Certificate and would need to complete a probationary year before the position becomes continuing.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative teacher who appreciates working in a collaborative environment.  The candidate will also have a strong understanding of early childhood music (Kodaly or Orff) and experience teaching primary aged students. Choral experience, conducting choirs at various levels and the ability to play piano (or another instrument) fluently are considered an asset.
