Announcing 2020 Distinguished Alumni Recipient

It is our pleasure to announce that Mr. Paul Storwick ’78 has been selected as the recipient of the Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (STS) 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award – the highest honour the School bestows upon its alumni.

This award was established in 2003 to recognize eminent alumni who have made outstanding contributions to the School. Each year it showcases alumni who have stimulated new ideas or developments at STS, shown exceptional dedication, creativity or leadership, and who have truly represented the spirit of STS – Nil Nisi Optimum

STS is extremely important to Paul. As both an alumnus and a parent, he has been a leading force and strong support for the Alumni Association and the School. Paul is an active member of the Alumni Association Executive committee and has served on the STS Board of Governors from 2014 to 2016, coinciding with his term as President of the Alumni Association. He chaired the development of the STS Community and Alumni Network Strategic Plan (2010-2015) that helped build a robust alumni relations program and enhance a culture of philanthropy at STS. He was instrumental in the development of the Nil Nisi Optimum Notable Alumni award, which recognizes alumni for their notable accomplishments in leadership, service and dedication to their profession and/or community. Paul has volunteered tirelessly as an alumni mentor and speaker and has helped build many musical production sets for the annual STS musicals. His passion for everything STS is evident. Paul’s three children, Katherine ’08, John ’10 and Mark ’13 attended STS, and Paul and his wife Shirley have a long history of volunteering and giving back to the School.

Professionally, Paul is the Owner/President of GreatWest Kenworth Ltd.  He has sat on SAIT Polytechnic’s Board of Governors, is Past President of the Calgary Chapter of the Young Entrepreneurs Organization, Past Chairman of the Kenworth Dealer Mgmt.
