Annual Giving

Everything STS students benefit from today is due to the generosity of past generations of donors. Your gift – of any size – makes our STS even better.

The STS community is steeped in a culture of participation. At school, students have an astounding number of choices outside of their core subjects that help them discover themselves, and the world.

Did you know that tuition fees and some government grants cover all operating expenses, and fundraising dollars provide any program or campus enhancements? To give every student in each generation the true STS experience, we rely on donors like you.

This year’s Annual Appeal priorities include boldly addressing today’s uncertain times with the flexibility to offer our program on-campus, online, or in a hybrid model, while maintaining excellence in education through Head’s Initiatives, investing in our students through Scholarships and Bursaries, and future-focused programs to address the passions, needs, and dreams of our students through Program Innovation.

Strengthening our community

Every family’s participation in annual giving is one of the ways that our community grows strong bonds. The size of the gift is less important than the sense of pride and ownership we all feel in STS, and the shared commitment to our mission.

It is thanks to generous donors like you that STS remains a top independent school. And it is you who can help our school to respond to uncertain times like we are experiencing now and help us thrive for generations to come. What matters most now is our sense of community and caring for one another with a laser focus on providing our students the best in education.

Please make a tax-deductible donation to this year’s annual giving appeal to help shape the future for our students.

Priority 1Head's Initiatives

Gifts directed to the Head’s Initiatives provides the most flexibility to the Head of School to respond to these uncertain challenging times and direct funds where they are needed the most. Donations to the Head’s initiatives have supported enhanced curriculum online for students to ensure learning continued during the pandemic, substantial updates in our design and innovation spaces and overall campus enhancements that the community benefits from today.

Priority 2Scholarships and Bursaries

We’ve seen an increase in demand for financial assistance due to the pandemic and downturn in the local economy. Removing financial barriers, and bringing exceptional young minds and hearts of character to STS, fosters spectacular learning experiences for our entire school community. Thanks to our donors, 17% of our students are on some form of need-based and/or merit-based scholarships this school year—an increase of 3% from last year.

Please help us keep our families together by donating to scholarships and bursaries.

Priority 3Program Innovation

Innovation at STS is of top priority in order to support the passions, interests, and needs of our students for a dynamic world. Human-centered approaches to innovation are used so as to support evidence-informed growth in academic programming, pedagogy, and partnerships. Examples of innovative programs waiting to be catalyzed include design, innovation and entrepreneurial studies, health and wellness programming, the growth of computational thinking skills from Kindergarten to Grade 12, the growth of the First Robotics program, senior school electives, after school offerings, and community partnerships. Each of these programs has unique needs for physical space, tools, professional development and resources.
