STS Presents: Tales from Undergrad Years
By: Brenda Thompson, Director of Community Engagement
Each year recent STS graduates come together to share their stories about the rewards, surprises, and challenges of university life with our Grade 12 students.
This year ten young alumni from around the world were brought together virtually for STS’s Tales from Undergrad Years session on February 17, 2022. Grade 12 students filled the C.A. Smith Arts Centre to listen to each alumna/alumnus guest speaker share their unique and varied experiences as freshman. Grade 12 students were able to ask questions of the graduate Zoom panelists and many relevant topics were covered, such as how they chose their university and undergrad program, why they chose to take a gap year, how they balance academics and social activities, and their experience as a freshman.
Thank you to STS alumni: Sarah Adam '21 (Dalhousie University), Jake Baverstock '21 (gap year), Lachlan Harris-Fiesel '21 (Simon Fraser University), Rebecca Lane '21 (Hawaii Pacific University), Jasmine Leetzow '21 (University of Hawaii at Manoa), Brooke Lowe '21 (Queens University), Sarah Nagtegaal '21 (TU Delft, Netherlands), Tope Toriola '21 (University of Leeds in England), Alix Tucker '21 (University of BC, Kelowna), and Olivia Whissell '21 (Mount Royal University), for sharing your tales of university life, insights, and advice with our Grade 12 students.
