Duke of Edinburgh's International Award

At STS, we continue our legacy of developing good humans, thought-leaders, and global citizens through providing our students with real-world learning experiences, and encouraging them to embrace the opportunities that our campus, and the broader world provide. STS students are inspired to inquire and be creative, be courageous and demonstrate leadership, as well as to show compassion for others.

In alignment with our strong academic and extensive co-curricular programs, STS students have the unique opportunity to extend their learning through the pursuit of an internationally recognized award.

Duke of Edinburgh's International Award

Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award acknowledges that not all learning happens within a classroom, but happens through experience and collaboration with our community, helping young people (between the ages of 14 and 24) discover an area where they can excel and giving them the confidence they need to succeed in their future endeavors. This global award can be used on university applications and/or job resumes to help demonstrate the participant’s commitment to a well-rounded and healthy lifestyle.

“The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award has encouraged me to try new things and set challenging goals for myself in a range of disciplines. My favourite part about Duke of Ed is its versatility, as it has allowed me to design a program customized to my interests. It has acted as a motivator in my pursuit to learn valuable skills that have helped make a positive change in my life and the lives of others.” — Stephanie L. '21

I commenced the Bronze level of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in September 2019. I found it an incredible way to become more involved in my community, and expand my interests.
