2019-2020 tuition and fees
Private school tuition can be prohibitive for some families. If your child is a new, ideal candidate for a Strathcona-Tweedsmuir education or a current student, we can help. We are committed to making STS accessible to as many families as possible. In 2019/2020, thanks to our donors, we distributed $535,000 to Middle and Senior School students.

All tuition and fees are shown in CAD.
Are tuition and fees refundable?
Tuition Reimbursement Insurance (TRI) is optional and available to everyone at an annual cost of $250. Tuition paid without TRI is non-refundable.
Fees, however, are completely non-refundable.
Here’s an outline of fees and other expenses, outside of tuition.
There’s a one-time registration fee of $3,500. You’ll pay that upon your initial acceptance into STS to reserve your spot. The registration fee is separate from tuition payments and isn’t applied to your tuition.
Your uniform expenses will vary each year, depending on specific needs. The initial cost ranges from $800 to $1,000, purchased at McCarthy's in Calgary. In subsequent years, you’ll only need new items occasionally so uniform costs can be dramatically reduced.
The required gym strip and our popular Spartan athletic wear are available at Tweeds and More, our store on campus. You’ll also find quality consignment uniforms, some new uniform pieces, most accessories and useful STS items. Tweeds and More is operated by parent volunteers, and a percentage of sales go to STS.
A mandatory annual fee of $700 fee helps to cover the cost of your child’s off-campus activities. This way, you don’t have to worry about incidental payments for transportation throughout the year.
Learning outside the four walls of a classroom helps our students stay curious, and make connections between class work and the bigger world. They take day trips to locations such as the Science Centre or the Leighton Art Centre. Because service is a core value for everyone at STS, we transport students to volunteer opportunities for organizations like the Calgary Drop-in Centre and the Bridgeland Manor for seniors. There are also bus trips to overnight camps and other multi-day activities.
We provide early-morning and after-school buses to accommodate participation in activities. Our goal is to make it easy for students to pursue a variety of interests without extra demands on your family.
There’s an optional daily bus service for $2,960 per school year. If you plan to use the service, we need your deposit on or before June 15 each year. You’ll receive your personalized bus schedule before the school year begins. Occasionally, seats are available to students that are not registered for daily bussing. For full details on bus fees, view the bus fee schedule here.
Our technology program begins in Grade 6. Students in Grades 6 and 7 use a prescribed notebook computer for their individual use. The mandatory rent for the notebook is $620 per school year.
Students in Grades 8 to 12 are required to bring their own device.
You can pay by cheque, VISA, MasterCard, American Express or with online banking. Credit card transactions are subject to a 2% convenience fee.
International students residing in Canada on a student visa are not eligible for the subsidy for Alberta residents. That means tuition for international students reflects the total cost of the STS education.
