2023-2024 Tuition and Fees

Private school tuition can be prohibitive for some families. If your child is a new, ideal candidate for a Strathcona-Tweedsmuir education or a current student, we can help. We are committed to making STS accessible to as many families as possible. Last year, thanks to our donors, we distributed more than $550,000 in financial assistance to students.

Are tuition and fees refundable?

Tuition Reimbursement Insurance (TRI) is optional and available to everyone at an annual cost of $250. Tuition paid without TRI is non-refundable.

Fees, however, are completely non-refundable.

Fees

Here’s an outline of fees and other expenses to expect, outside of tuition.

Registration

There’s a one-time registration fee of $3,500. You’ll pay that upon your initial acceptance into STS to reserve your spot. The registration fee is separate from tuition payments and isn’t applied to your tuition.

Uniforms

Your uniform expenses will vary each year, depending on specific needs. The initial cost ranges from $800 to $1,000, purchased at McCarthy's in Calgary. In subsequent years, you’ll only need new items occasionally so uniform costs can be dramatically reduced.

The required gym strip and our popular Spartan athletic wear are available at Tweeds and More, our store on campus. You’ll also find quality consignment uniforms, some new uniform pieces, most accessories and useful STS items. Tweeds and More is operated by parent volunteers, and a percentage of sales go to STS.

Daily bussing

There’s an optional daily bus service for $3,336 per school year. If you plan to use the service, we need your deposit on or before June 15 each year. You’ll receive your personalized bus schedule before the school year begins. Occasionally, seats are available to students that are not registered for daily bussing. For full details on bus fees, view the bus fee schedule here.

Making payments

You can pay by cheque, VISA, MasterCard, American Express or with online banking. Credit card transactions are subject to a 2.5% convenience fee.

International students

International students residing in Canada by virtue of a student visa are not eligible for the Alberta subsidy for resident students. Consequently, these students must assume the total cost of education for each year they attend the School.

There is also an application fee of $500 to support additional administrative fees associated with assessing and welcoming international students.

For more information regarding international student admission, please call our Enrollment Office at 587-316-8192 or send an email: admissions@sts.ab.ca.
