Official ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony mark monumental milestone at STS
Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School revealed its brand new $24-million, 100% donor-funded learning facility expansion on Friday, February 23 together with STS alumni, faculty, staff, donors and contractors.
After 10 years of hard work and dedication, the STS community is finally able to enjoy this monumental milestone that will set STS up for continued success well into the future. STS feels extremely privileged to learn, work, play and volunteer on this beautiful campus and is grateful to all those who made this opportunity available to our students.
"This inspiring dream began a decade ago, when our Board began envisioning a campus rejuvenation concept that would take advantage of our lovely country campus as an extension of the classroom, flexible spaces to satisfy our students' natural curiosity to learn - ultimately optimizing teaching and learning within our communities," said Dr. William Jones.
Multiple members of the STS community were involved in the grand opening including Mr. Randy Fielding, founding Chairman and Architect with Fielding Nair International; Inspiring Possibilities Campaign Co-Chairs, Mrs. Jan Waterous and Mr. Mike Jackson; Mr. Scott Kirker, Chairman, Board of Governors; and a traditional Aboriginal Smudge Ceremony performed by STS parent, Mr. Adrian Goulet.
This celebration embodies more than the physical new buildings. It is a celebration of years of research, consulting, fundraising and planning that has always been about teaching and learning, keeping our students at the forefront of this milestone.
