Middle School Students Compete at Junior High Debate Tournament at Western Canada High School With Great Success
On Friday, two Middle School teams: Lakhshan A.’22 and Shaheena S. ’22 and Lucy C. ’22 and Emma M. ’22 competed at the Western Canada High School Debate tournament. This tournament is impromptu style, which means the students do not know the topics ahead of time. The theme of the debate was Ancient Greece. Once the topic was released, the students had 15 minutes to prepare their arguments. The first resolution was, “This house should or should not implement Ancient Greek style assemblies in Canadian cities” and the second resolution was, “This house would suspended the right to vote if citizens do not pay their taxes.” Both teams did well and special congratulations goes to Lucy C. ’22 and Emma M. ’22 for winning First place!
All four girls felt what they had learned about Ancient Greece in Grade 6 contributed to their success!
