STS Summer Programs
While COVID-19 created a very dynamic landscape, STS offered a number of summer programs to create a wide variety of student learning experiences. In July, STS offered six senior high summer school courses (Biology 20, Physics 20, Social 20-1, Social 30-1, CALM 20, and Computer Science 10). There was a total of 83 senior students who participated in this remote learning ‘third semester.’
STS originally planned for over twenty various summer camp programs with third parties in late June and early July. Due to the Coronavirus, we had to cancel these programs, but were pleased to still offer a number of camps at the end of August. These camps included a bike camp in partnership with Two Wheel View, STEM camps with Coded Minds, and a volleyball camp with Stryker Sports. STS also offered our own specialized programs that included an Outdoor Education Camp, Volleyball Camp, and a new student orientation program called Taste of STS. A Senior Math Bootcamp (Grade 10-12) and a Grade 5/6 Math Bootcamp was also designed to provide a solid math base before heading back to class. Overall, we had 235 students participate in these summer camp offerings.
