Grade 5s Sharing the Planet

Grade 5s Sharing the Planet

The Grade 5 students enjoyed our outdoor campus to launch their first unit of inquiry, Sharing the Planet. They were happy to head down to the water to do our learning. Students first brainstormed how to be respectful of nature, and were as quiet as can be along the paths in case we saw our elusive fox or the owl family. Once down at the pond, Grade 5s had a chance to look at both a macro and micro view of a wetland ecosystem. Their drawings were fabulous! Some of the highlights were spotting minnows near the dock, finding a snail floating near a pond plant, and recognizing evidence of deer snacking on the dogwoods. What a great day to start our learning together!
